How it works

From sign-up to your first transaction in five steps.

  1. 1. Sign up without passwords

    Enter your email, get a magic link or one-time code. No password to remember, nothing to leak.

  2. 2. Create your household

    Your household holds your accounts, members and budgets. Invite a partner or keep it solo, your call.

  3. 3. Pick a budgeting style

    Traditional targets, Envelope (zero-sum), or Report-only. You can change it any time in Settings.

  4. 4. Connect your first account

    Sync your bank or import a CSV or PDF statement. Each account chooses its own import method.

  5. 5. Categorise, budget, repeat

    Rules sort the obvious cases for you, and anything AI suggests is there for you to approve. Your dashboard updates as transactions come in.

Where is my data hosted?

We host in the EU on secure servers. We don't sell your data, to anyone, ever.

Do you support multi-currency?

Yes. Every account and transaction carries its own currency. Foreign-currency transactions record the rate at the time, so you always know what you actually spent.

How does passwordless sign-in work?

Enter your email and we'll send you a link or one-time code. Click it and you're in. No password to remember, nothing to leak.

Can I import from Actual, Firefly III or YNAB?

Yes. The Migration tab walks you through uploading an export. You'll see a preview before anything is committed, and nothing is written until you confirm.

What happens if I delete my household?

We permanently destroy your personal data. Anything identifiable to you is gone for good.

Is there an API?

Yes. There's a REST API and an MCP server for AI assistants. You control what each key can do, and every call is logged.

We keep things simple. Here's exactly what we collect, what we do with it, and how you stay in control.

What we collect

  • The email address you use to sign in, needed to send you a magic link or one-time code.
  • The financial data you enter or import: accounts, transactions, categories, budgets and notes.
  • Basic technical data (browser type, IP address) needed to keep your account secure.

How we use it

Only to provide the budgeting service you signed up for, and to keep your account safe. We do not sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.

Where it's stored

On secure EU-hosted servers. Your notes, attachments and any third-party connections are encrypted with the same technology your bank uses.

Who can see it

Only you. If you invite members to your household, they can see what you choose to share. Our staff cannot see your financial data. It sits behind encryption we don't hold the keys to.

Cookies and tracking

We don't use advertising cookies, third-party trackers or analytics that follow you across the web. The only cookies we set are functional ones to keep you signed in.

Your rights

  • Access everything we hold about you, any time, from the app.
  • Export all your data in a portable format.
  • Delete your account and personal data permanently.

Encryption

What's encrypted, and how

The short version: your sensitive data is encrypted before it's stored, with the same standard your bank uses.

What we encrypt

  • Your notes and memos on transactions
  • Files you attach to transactions
  • Bank connection credentials and third-party tokens, so nobody else can ever use them
  • The raw contents of imported statements, including CSV, PDF and live bank sync payloads

What stays readable

Amounts, dates, currencies, categories and account names are kept readable so your charts, reports and search work instantly. They are still locked to your household with strict access controls, and never visible to anyone else.

How it works

  • Field-level encryption. Each sensitive field is encrypted individually, before it's stored.
  • A key per household. Every household gets its own encryption key.
  • Keys wrapped by a master key. Your household's key is itself locked with a master key held separately, so a single stolen file is not enough to decrypt anything.
  • A modern algorithm. We use XChaCha20-Poly1305, which is resistant to the common pitfalls of older encryption schemes.

In transit and at rest

Everything you send or receive travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Data at rest is encrypted on disk and in our backups.

Deletion

When you delete your household, your encryption keys are destroyed. Your encrypted data becomes unrecoverable, including by us.
